For Immediate Release:
CXR/Larus Announces New 54581 Timing Insertion Unit
Allows Legacy Telephone Equipment to be Timed to Stratum 1 Standards San Jose, Calif., August 15, 2005 – CXR/Larus, a world class
manufacturer of network timing, test, and access solutions today
announced the newest addition to its extensive lineup of modules for the
industry standard StarClockTM 200
Synchronization Timing System. The new module is the Model 54581 Timing
Insertion Unit.
This innovative module, when installed in a StarClock
TM 200 Synchronization Timing System, is used to provide timing
on two separate DS1 circuits, with either D4 or ESF framing. It recovers
timing from the traffic-bearing DS1 circuit, and clocks the data into a
first-in, first-out buffer with inventive self centering circuitry to
absorb up to 28 Unit Intervals (UIs) of jitter and wander, synchronously
buffer one frame (192 bits) from the input signal, and supply a re-timed
signal referenced to a 1.544 Mbps input.
The primary application of the Model 54581 module is to provide legacy
telephone equipment which does not have an external timing reference
input Stratum 1 level timing on the incoming DS1s. This avoids the
costly forklift upgrading of equipment when deploying timing sensitive
services such as VoIP.
The Model 54581 Timing Insertion Unit may also be used to provide timing
to a T1 link where both ends of the circuit are looped timed. The timing
is extracted from the reference input, which is supplied from the office
synchronization and timing system. Wander and Jitter may also be removed
when the card is used in synchronous applications.
Up to 10 of the Model 54581 Timing Insertion Units can be installed into
the StarClockTM 200 shelf, providing the
re-timing of up to 20 individual DS-1 circuits.
