For Immediate Release:
New features include increased security and a new advanced tracking algorithm for even greater performance San Jose, Calif., Nov 27, 2007 – CXR Larus Corporation , a leading manufacturer of network timing, test, and access solutions today announced the newest additions to its extensive lineup of industry standard synchronization and timing systems; a new series of StarSyncTM 5850 (DS1) and 5850E (E1) GPS Primary Reference Source products. The telco approved StarSyncTM 5850, and 5850E family has been updated to utilize the very latest in Advanced Least Mean Squares Estimation (ALMSE) technology, and employs an even more advanced tracking algorithm with state-of-the-art and patented Direct Digital Frequency Synthesis (DDFS) with Kalman filtering techniques to ensure that the new StarSync 5850 and 5850E far exceed Bellcore GR-2830 holdover specifications. As a bonus, the GPS satellite acquisition times have been greatly reduced from as long as an hour to mere minutes. This makes system turn up much faster, and as a result, more economical than ever. In addition to the performance gains attributed to the new advanced tracking algorithm, the StarSync 5850 and 5850E also has increased security within the user interface, including a new total of as many as nine levels of security, and now as many as 50 users can be assigned passwords. This increased security ensures that your 5850/5850E configuration settings remain where you want them, and only authorized users of the appropriate security level can make critical changes that could affect network performance. Our customers spoke, we listened, and as a result the new StarSyncTM 5850 and 5850E’s user interface now incorporates both Menu and TL1 configurations into a single version. The interface selection has been incorporated within the log-in procedure and the user now has their choice when they sign into the system through either the craft port or through the network. This also greatly simplifies the ordering process for the customer as there are basically only four 5850 family product choices now from which to choose; a selection between DS1 or E1 environment, and the choice between Stratum 2 or 3E bridging. In addition to the increased security features of the StarSyncTM 5850 and 5850E the alarm messaging to the user interface has been improved to aid in troubleshooting alarm problems. Both the StarSyncTM 5850 and 5850E systems are fully NEBS Level 3 compliant, and certified per the rigorous Bellcore GR-1089 and GR-63-CORE standards. As a result of the release of these new products, all previous versions of the 5850 and 5850E are being phased out of production effective immediately. As usual, CXR Larus will continue to support these older products through our 24/7 Customer Support network for the foreseeable future.
